So Where Have We Been?

Yeah, that’s a very valid question.

I know. I was in the middle of delivering the thrilling tale of those 3 jerks, “You’re Gonna Regret This”. And suddenly, the State went dormant.

What happened?

Well, life happened, I guess.

You know how tough these streets have become, so chale, I honestly forgot about the State. Forgot about storytelling. Yeah. It just dropped from my mind.

And that utter neglect is why you’re here, because the time for renewing the domain came and passed, and I, unfortunately, did nothing about it. Meaning stateofdabar.com is now lost forever.

Sigh. Yeah, such an error.

Aside that, a lot happened over the past few months.

I got married.

Yep! On the 12th of February, 2022, one amazing woman and I became one flesh, in a ceremony I’ll never forget for as long as I live.

Then my sister got married too. Yeah, the nest got emptied pretty quickly this year. Haha!

So yeah, life as a lawyer and a husband has been pretty draining and exhausting. So much to do, so little time. And all these milestones have been occupying (if that’s even a correct word to use, mpo).

But at a point, I started thinking. And I realized, as important as my career as a lawyer is, the worst thing I’ll do is allow it to kick everything else out of my life.

Then I went on leave, and after bringing it up with wifey, she encouraged me to get back to what I enjoy (so yes, Dabar, your Queen has been instrumental in this resurrection!), and so that’s what got me back on track.

So yes, the State is back! The .com website may be gone, but of course, all the stories are still intact. From the love triangle of Marcus, Allison & Temwani in “Start Over”, to your ever beloved Dolphynes, everything is right as you last saw it. And of course, I firmly encourage y’all to go back and get lost in all those stories. I did, and trust me, it was sweeeeet!

Oh, and you know one thing I’m really delighted about? The fact that I learned how subdomains work. That’s how you have this site now!

So yes, this is the official State of Dabar Magazine Hub, where all monthly updates, favourite lists, character discussions, etc take place. And I trust you’re gonna enjoy it and contribute where necessary. This is gonna be fun!

So yeah, I was gone for a while. But chale, storytelling is embedded in my DNA. It’s a gift God has given me, and law can only keep me away from it for so long. Now that I’m back to this, I’m gonna work things out to ensure this site gets the attention it needs. This is still really important to me.

And yeah, the fact that the first site has been terminated doesn’t change the fact that its anniversary falls on the 25th of June. Which, by the way, is three days after my wife’s birthday. So the latter days of June deserve celebrations, don’t they?

So as it stands, the State of Dabar is 3 years old. We’ve come quite a long way, and we’ll keep moving forward.

To kick the revival off, there’s gonna be a re-release of the last two series: “Power Couple” and “You’re Gonna Regret This”. For the former, our man Makafui has got some major works on it, while the latter, which I woefully neglected, will be returning in its fullness. And no slacking!
